Just wanted to mention that
- I beat Beyond Good & Evil last night and started working through Lost Planet and
- This decision is retarded and will probably come back to bite Capcom in the ass somewhere down the road
That is all.

I’d take what Ono said with a orca-size grain of salt. Remember, there weren’t any plans initially to release vanilla SFIV for arcades, then Capcom forced the dev team to rush out an arcade release with 19 of the planned characters. Hell, Ono has a history of talking out of both sides of his mouth when it comes to developing SFIV (e.g., saying they’d take character suggestions and doing character polls when people with connections to development were saying the character line up had already been planned in advance).
It would surprise me in the least if Ono backpedals (again) says there will be an arcade version released.
Wouldn’t surprise me in the last, that is.
And would you look at that: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.php?p=7590070&postcount=670
Apparently, it’s a mandate from up high and Ono and co. are fighting it to get an arcade release.
It’s good to know that they know how important an arcade release is, I guess. Hopefully they succeed.
At least we know the level of influence that corporate has on developers. I think it’s a fairly understated element in game design.
